Wednesday morning, Bristol’s Registrar of Voters had unofficial results, not including absentee ballots yet, from Tuesday’s election. The race between Republican State Senator Jason Welch and Democratic candidate David Roche had been very close, however unofficial results show Welch came out on top to continue another term in the District 31 State Senate seat. Democratic State Representative Frank Nicastro won over Republican Mary Alford for his General Assembly District 79, by nearly 2,500 votes. Democratic State Representative Chris Wright will continue another term in the General Assembly District 77, after leading over Republican Jill Fitzgerald by roughly 1,500 votes. President Barack Obama came out out on top in Bristol, over Republican candidate Mitt Romney, and Congressman John Larson and Democrat Chris Murphy were also top choices in Bristol. Bristol voters were also in favor of the question on the ballot regarding redistricting.
