Changes in works for using city’s transfer station

The Pay As You Throw program at the Bristol Transfer Station begins March 4.
Transfer Station users will need to fund their Transfer Station accounts before visiting the Transfer Station on or after March 4.
A minimum of $25 is required for the initial residential account balance. On line payments (credit/debit cards or electronic check) may be made at www.bristolct.gov/payment. Payments can also be made by phone (1-877-227-1157), or by coming to City Hall (Public Works – Ground Floor, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Payments will not be accepted at the Transfer Station.
There will be no charge for full loads of antifreeze, leaves, oil, fluorescent bulbs, electronics, acceptable single stream recyclable materials and metal. These materials may be brought together in one load, but the addition of any chargeable material would make the entire load chargeable.
Any material not listed above will be charged as follows:
The first 200 pounds are free.
Weight in excess of 200 pounds will be charged at a rate of $0.45 per 10 pounds of material disposed.
