During a routine patrol on Thursday, a Bristol police officer came across a broken front window at Chippens Hill Convenience Store, 912 Terryville Ave. The officer located a vehicle parked in the back lot of the store and after the officer attempted to make contact with the operator, the vehicle left the scene at a “high rate of speed,” a press release said. Police located the vehicle in the Divinity Street area, however it was unoccupied. Later, a male suspect was located who then fled, after an officer approached him, and ran into a support wire attached to a utility pole causing an injury, the release said.
Bristol Police arrested the suspect, 20-year-old Alexander Williams of 816 Terryville Ave., and charged him with criminal attempt to commit burglary, third degree conspiracy to commit burglary and interfering with an officer. He was held on a $50,000 bond pending his arraignment today at Bristol Superior Court.
