Police make arrests in copper piping robbery attempt

March 5, 2013

Two men were arrested Monday, after police responded to a reported robbery of copper piping at a Park Street residence.

McKinnel Morton, 56, and Daniel West, 43, were arrested Monday and charged with third degree burglary, fourth degree criminal attempt at larceny, possession of burglary tools, first degree criminal mischief, and second degree criminal trespass.

When officers responded to 142 Park St., they found Morton and West inside the residence and determined the two had entered the building illegally and were attempting to steal copper piping, a press release said.

Both Morton and West were held on $25,000 bonds pending arraignment in court Tuesday.
