Police investigating attempted abduction of 9-year-old

Bristol police are investigating an attempted abduction that happened Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Beech Street and North Pond Street. A 9-year-old boy was walking home when a gray/green van with no back windows was parked in the area of where he was walking home, a press release said. The operator of the van was described as a light-skinned black male with a beard, or goatee, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, dressed in a dark winter coat and baseball cap, the release said. The suspect exited the van and approached the 9-year-old and yelled “Get in the van,” the release said, and the boy ran home.
Bristol police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect as of Tuesday morning.
