Bristol man dies after weekend car accident

An 83-year-old Bristol man died of natural causes after he was involved in a car accident in the area of Oakland Street over the weekend, according to a press release.
Bristol police responded to a single car crash with injuries in the area of 121 Oakland St., last Saturday, where Theodore Belanger had crashed his 2008 Chevy Impala. The release said Belanger had left the road in the area of Grove Street and struck several bushes by a home on Oakland Street. At the time of the crash, his injuries were considered minor however eventually upgraded to critical. Belanger passed away at Saint Francis Hospital, and according to the Farmington Medical Examiner, “his cause of death was from a previous medical condition that was not related to the crash injuries.”
The crash is being investigated by the BPD Traffic Division START Unit (Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team). Anyone whom may have information on this crash is urged to contact the BPD Traffic Division at (860) 584-3030.
