Patriots drop Hernandez following arrest in connection with homicide

Bristol’s Aaron Hernandez is no longer a New England Patriot.

At the NFL team’s website, Patriots.com, the following was posted:

The New England Patriots have issued the following statement on the release of tight end Aaron Hernandez.

 “A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do.”
At PFWOnline.com, it was reported: ” Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested by North Attleboro police Wednesday morning. Just before nine o’clock this morning police arrived at Hernandez’ home and took him into custody, placed him in handcuffs led him to a squad car.”He was taken to the North Attleboro police station and is expected to be arraigned at Attleboro District Court as some point later in the day. Hernandez remains involved in the murder investigation of Odin Lloyd.”
