Area youths can participate in Whirligig

The Whirligig Workshops is a free event for pre-teens and teens of Bristol, Plymouth, and Thomaston run by volunteers offers a choice of activities to do (besides just sports) in order to keep their boredom from turning into experimentation with drugs, teen pregnancies, etc.
The event will be at the Terryville Library on Friday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Currently planned are free workshops for karate, dance, stage combat, comedy improv, technical theater, acrylic drawing, charcoal drawing, media reporting, creative writing, emergency preparedness, HAM radio, and more.
Anyone interested must sign up for the workshops that interest them beforehand at the library or online at Facebook.com/whirligigworkshops. They also can call the library to sign up as well at (860)582-3121.
