The City of Bristol will host a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection event on Saturday, Oct., 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Who can attend?
Bristol, Berlin, Burlington, Meriden, New Britain, Plainville, Plymouth, Prospect, Southington and Wolcott residents (I.D. required, no businesses)
Place: City Yard – 95 Vincent P. Kelly Rd. (enter from Middle Street exit from Lake Avenue)
What can be brought to HHW:
Mercury and mercury-containing products, aerosol sprays, polishes, bleach, drain and oven cleaners, disinfectants, mildew removers, oil-based paint, varnishes, shellac, solvents, paint strippers, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, pool chemicals, oil, antifreeze, gasoline and other fuels, moth balls, cosmetics, hobby supplies, batteries (automotive, rechargeable, & button batteries), and other hazardous household chemicals.
Items not accepted:
Electronics (TV’s, computers, cell phones, etc), medicine, flares, ammunition, smoke detectors and radioactive materials, propane tanks, tires, appliances (a/c units), fire extinguishers, or empty containers (dry empty chemical containers are not considered hazardous – discard in regular rubbish).
