Habitat for Humanity will be holding a Applicant Information Meeting Sept. 21

Habitat for Humanity will be holding a Applicant Information Meeting on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Bristol Public Library, 5 High St., for families who would qualify for an affordable, single-family home. Habitat will begin construction on Lillian Road and Bernie Avenue on Friday, Sept. 27, for a five-home project. Recently, the Greater Bristol Realty Corporation signed over the property it owned to Habitat for development of single-family homes for low-income families.
Families that would qualify earn a minimum of $34,000 per year, and have a willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity. Homeowners purchase their homes with a zero percent interest mortgage provided by Hartford Habitat and attend 50 hours of home buyer education courses, in addition to completing their sweat equity hours. Each home is designed to meet ecologically sound building standards through the use of recycled materials, renewable resources, and energy efficiency.
Details regarding the upcoming AIM and the homeownership process can be found on Hartford Habitat’s website at www.hartfordhabitat.org/homeownership or by calling Family Services at (860)541-2208 ext.100.
