This year, Bristol Community Organization, Inc. is raising money to purchase a new van for the Bristol Dial-A-Ride program. As the “Baby Boomer” generation ages, more and more senior citizens need the services of the Dial-A-Ride program. Currently, BCO provides nearly 10,000 rides to senior and disabled residents of Bristol. The Dial-A-Ride program provides “curb to curb” rides from a resident’s home to medical appointments, grocery stores and to some social gatherings.
While BCO has earned a federal grant to purchase the new wheelchair accessible van, there is “match” funding of $11,000 required by the state Department of Transportation to purchase the van.
On Friday, Oct. 4 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Nuchie’s Restaurant, BCO will hold the wine tasting. Nuchie’s Italian table will be part of the hors d’oeuvres. In addition, there will be a silent auction of several baskets with many different themes.
Call BCO at (860)584-2725 to buy tickets in advance ($25) or pay $30 at the door.
