On Friday, Nov. 22, with over 300 people in attendance, including family and friends, eight individuals were inducted into the Bristol Sports Hall of Fame class of 2013. Carol and Jerry Carpenter, John Couture, Joe DeFillippi, Gerry Greger, Maryellen Holden, Paul LaFleur, and Rick O’Brien were inducted.
It was also announced that the BSHOF memorabilia room located at the Bristol Historical Society will be named “The John Fortunato Room.” Fortunato was a co-founder of the BSHOF who passed away earlier this year. An official ceremony will take place in 2014.
The BSHOF said in a press release that the organization is extremely grateful to the many business and individuals who supported the induction program by buying advertisements in the program booklet. The BSHOF said special thanks goes to Mark Cormacchio and the First Bristol Federal Credit Union for their continued support of all our events. Also, the BSHOF offered a “big thank you” to Tom Mazzarella for his expert assistance in producing the video portion of the event again this year.
The induction program was taped again this year by Nutmeg TV for future broadcasts to be aired on Friday, Dec. 6 and 9 at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. on Comcast Channel 95 and AT&T Channel 99.
