Bristol Rotary offering grants to nonprofits serving youth

The Bristol Rotary Club is accepting applications for small grants to nonprofit organizations that serve local youth.
The money for the grants comes from the club’s annual fall golf tournament.
“Thanks to all the generous sponsors and the golfers who turned out to play, the club has about $15,000 to give away this year,” said club President Jackie Majerus-Collins in a press release.
Grant applications are on the club’s website, www.BristolRotaryClub.org under “ask us for money” and on the club’s Facebook page. The applications, which are a short series of questions for grant seekers, are due by March 1. They can be handed in to any club member or mailed to the club at this address: Bristol Rotary Club, P.O. Box 1674, Bristol, CT 06011.
The club’s annual golf tournament, held at Chippanee Country Club, is its biggest fundraiser. Sponsors include Barnes Group, ESPN and many local businesses and individuals. Proceeds are distributed to charities that serve children and teens in the Bristol area.
Last year, some of the grant recipients included the Bristol Boys and Girls Club, the Main Street Community Foundation, the Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut and the Special Olympics.

Founded in 1927, the Bristol Rotary Club is a growing and dynamic service organization with a rich history in town. The club built the accessible playscape at Page Park, regularly donates to the Bristol Public Library, volunteers for The Salvation Army at Christmas and maintains trails at the Barnes Nature Center.
At Thanksgiving, the club worked in partnership with Meals for the Needy and the Liberty Bank Foundation to raise more than $13,000 for the soup kitchen and food pantry at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Each spring, the club gives out about $140,000 to recipients of its college scholarship programs.
