BCHS to present ‘Tastes of the World;’ seeking sponsors, vendors

The Bristol Central High School World Language Department will host a multi-cultural week Feb. 19 to 21. During this week all the various cultures that make up the Bristol Central High School community will be celebrated with cultural announcements, music, decorations, and a special lunch menu.
On Thursday, Feb. 20, students will be encouraged to represent their ethnicity by either wearing a sports jersey of their country of origin or colors of their flag. From 6 to 8 p.m., the school will host the first annual “Tastes of the World” – an evening of culinary and cultural delights designed to highlight the many flavors that make up the city’s cultural community.
Several community sponsors will be making donations, including Barley Vine of Bristol and the Aqua Turf of Southington.
“Tastes of the World” will include a pot-luck style dinner. Students and families will be encouraged to bring in their favorite cultural dish whether it may be an appetizer, entrée, or dessert. The school also welcomes additional food vendors, chefs, supplies, presenters and cultural entertainment to join in celebrating the cultures of the world. “Tastes of the World” will be open to the public and will benefit all members of our Bristol Central community. The event also is looking for donations of water as well.
All services will be donation only and every business or group will be recognized as sponsors for this event. If you are willing to donate your time or services, email World Language teachers, Teresa Di Carlo (TeresaDiCarlo@ci.bristol.ct.us), Angela Scaccianemici (AngelaScaccianemici@ci.bristol.ct.us) or Gina Gallo Reinhard (GinaGallo@ci.bristol.ct.us) by Jan. 30.
