Young designers put art into fashion

February 15, 2014

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center in New York City was in session last week and this week. And on Feb. 7, the School of Fashion at Academy of Art University presented a runway show featuring the work of 13 student designers to debut their thesis collections. As usual, the designers and textile designers put together a forward-looking, artistic collection. In total, six womenswear and two menswear collections were presented.  The collections were by designer Elizabeth Castellon; Jasmine Gonzales; Arijana Kajdi; Frank Tsai (who collaborated with textile designer Andrea Nieto), Joseph Khawane (who collaborated with textile designer Mingyu Du); Jaci Hodges (who collaborated with textile designer Nisha Hanna Btesh); Earnest Haung (who collaborated with textile designer Hong Ni); and Flora Cervantes (who collaborated with textile designer Lori Solem).
