Habitat for Humanity gets $92K for Bristol home from Thrivent

March 5, 2014

The Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity affiliate has been awarded $92,000 from Thrivent Financial to build a home in Bristol.

The funding is part of an ongoing partnership between Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity International, called Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity. Through the partnership, Thrivent members, Habitat affiliates and others partner with families across the U.S. and around the world to provide affordable housing and stronger, generous communities.

“Working in partnership with Habitat families to help them build or repair their homes is an inspiring experience,” said Julia Weston, a financial representative with Thrivent Financial in Bristol, via a press release from Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers will begin building in Bristol on March 15 and work every Saturday until Thanksgiving this year. “The first walls will go up in less than two weeks and we already have local businesses, churches and individuals signed up to fill about half of the volunteer dates. The support from the community has been incredible,” said Weston via the press release

“We are extremely grateful to Thrivent Financial for their continued support of Habitat for Humanity,” said Kevin Morrison, director of development for the Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity affiliate, in a press release. “Because of this support, more families will have a safe, affordable place to call home.”
