Bristol police warn about rental scam

March 10, 2014

Bristol police are warning individuals of a new scam. Individuals who are looking to rent residential properties would call a number and were instructed to mail a $500 deposit to a P.O. Box, a press release said. Once the deposit money was received by the alleged property owner the keys to the residence would be sent in return.
The victim of this property scam would never receive keys and their deposit money would be lost. Any victims of a similar scam should report the theft to their local police department. Bristol Police can be notified by calling (860) 584-3011.
