Hall of Fame honors scholar-athletes

April 16, 2014

The Bristol Sports Hall Of Fame sponsored the Jack Hines Scholar-Athlete Banquet on April 4 at Nuchie’s Restaurant in Forestville.
One-hundred-twenty-three Scholar Athletes from St Paul High School, Bristol Central High School, and Bristol Eastern High School were honored in front of their parents and city officials.
Robert Jacques from Bristol Central, Monica Roccapriore from St. Paul, and Jenna Rodjenski from Bristol Eastern were the Jack Hines Scholarship Award Winners.
The 2014 Joe McGinn Award was presented to Paul Kish. The recipient is recognized for their personal courage and determination. Paul is an accomplished alpine skier, winner of more than 40 Special Olympic gold medals and plays Unified Special Olympics golf with his father, where he usually is the key factor in any medals they win. He is a fierce competitor who continues to compete in running and the shot put in the Special Olympics Summer Games. He has also forged a friendship with Mike Morin, retired Bristol educator and coach, who has been his one-on-one at the Summer Games for about 10 years. His grit and love of competition have never been diminished by his disabilities.
