Stanley Tools to award $10,000 to non-profits who show how they will ‘Build Your America’

Continuing its commitment to make the tools that build America, Stanley Tools announces the launch of its Stanley Black & Decker 2014 Build Your America Contest, where one charitable organization, non-profit organization or local government agency will win $10,000 to honor its community such as a neighborhood improvement project, renovations to a historical landmark, school, park, recreation center, etc.

Stanley Tools created the contest to help people honor their hometown communities while showcasing the increasing number of its hand tools made in the USA using global materials.

To enter the contest, go to  and submit a brief essay of your proposed project on how you would like to honor your community with the $10,000 grand prize such as by improving a park, building, or other location. You can enter the Contest with a smart phone via a QR code at select retail locations where Stanley hand tools are sold.

The contest will run from May 15, 2014 to Dec. 31, 2014.

In addition to the $10,000 grand prize, Stanley Tools will donate tools to help support the build for the winning community project. Once you nominate your community, your entry will be judged each month to determine if you have won the monthly prize package of STANLEY hand tools made in the USA with global materials, (each monthly prize package has total approximate retail valued of $250.)

In January 2015 five finalists’ projects will be selected from all submissions entered based on relevance to the contest theme, the project’s creativity and uniqueness/originality of the project. Each of the five finalists will be required to submit additional details describing how the $10,000 grand prize would be used as well as other documents or information required by Stanley Tools. In February 2015, Stanley Tools will determine the Grand Prize winner. The Grand Prize winner will be announced in March 2015 and the community project will be implemented in the spring or summer of 2015.

The STANLEY website, Facebook page, and other social media will include interactive sections of how Stanley Tools has helped build America, a look inside the STANLEY Tools vault, how-to-videos, and more.
