Two violations for the stop of one: Seatbelt violation leads to drug arrest

Bristol police got a two-for-one deal in a seatbelt traffic stop on Saturday, May 24.
Police said they were conducting Click-It-or –Ticket Enforcement in the area of North Main Street and North Street. Around 6:03 p.m., police said they stopped Caser Santos, 29, of New Britain, for not wearing a seatbelt.
During the stop, police said officers caught a whiff of marijuana in Santos’s vehicle. Police said they searched the vehicle and found 16.2 ounces of marijuana, 1.2 ounces of powdered cocaine, scales, packaging material and other drug paraphernalia along with a large survival knife and a set of nunchucks.
Police said Santos was subsequently arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and weapons in a motor vehicle.
Police said Santo was held on a $450,000.00 bond.
In addition, Santos was issued a ticket for failure to wear a seatbelt.
