Bristol’s Cemetery Commission is holding a free lantern tour on Friday, Sept. 26.
This will be the only night that West Cemetery is open to the public after dark. Led by lantern light, attendees will start by the Barnes Chapel area and will visit the final resting places of some of West Cemetery’s notable and not-so-notable residents. Character actors will share their true-yet-darker-tales.
This 50 minute tour – 0.8 miles long tour, may not be suitable for children under 13. Wear appropriate walking shoes and bring a flashlight.
Tours will start 15 minutes after sunset – ( 6:59 p.m.).
Coming after 6:59 will not effect what latecomers get to do as tours will occur till 9:00.
The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 27.
Refer to the Bristol Historical Society web site if there is a rain date.
Donations are welcome.
Funding is provided by a grant from the Bristol Brass General Grant Fund and the Gnazzo-Reidy Charitable Fund at the Main Street Community Foundation.
