Candidates to debate in chamber-sponsored event Oct. 6

The Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce will host a debate for local state Senate and House of Representative candidates on Monday, Oct. 6 at St. Paul Catholic High School in the auditorium, 1001 Stafford Ave., Bristol. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the debates will run from 6 to 9 p.m.

The debating candidates are: 77th District State House of Representatives – Chris Wright (D) and Cara Christine Pavalock (R); 78th District State House of Representatives – Whit Betts (R) and Dan Santorso (D); 79th District State House of Representatives – Frank Nicastro, Sr. (D) and Josh Levesque (R); and 31st District State Senate –

Henri Martin (R) and Rob Michalik, Jr. (D).

Veteran political reporter Tom Monahan, formerly from NBC30, will be the moderator for the event.

Each pair of candidates will be asked a series of questions with two minutes to answer and one minute for rebuttal. All candidates will also be given an opportunity at the end of the debate to sum up why they are running. All taxpayers and voters covered by these districts are invited to attend.
