‘Simpson’ writer, Bristol native Reiss to attend dedication ceremony at library, Oct. 11

On Saturday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m., the Bristol Public Library will welcome Bristol native, and “The Simpsons” television series writer, Mike Reiss.

Reiss, who was a Bristol Public Library user in his school days, and is a major donor to the Friends of the Bristol Public Library, is visiting the library to attend a small dedication ceremony for the new first floor library Express Area.

The new Express Area is designed to support the growing use of digital technology in the community and will include cafe style seating, free WI-FI, tables with charging hubs and USB ports for mobile devices and will be a location inside the library where covered beverages will be permitted. The required furniture and re-furbishing of the first-floor lobby are made possible by Reiss’s support.

Although the Express Area will not be completed by Oct. 11, the dedication ceremony will include the presentation of a plaque, the signing of “The Simpsons” posters that will be part of the Express Area decor, a display board showing what the new furniture materials will look like, and refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Bristol Public Library.

The public is welcome to attend the dedication at the library on 5 High St. in Bristol.
