New recruits welcomed to Bristol PD

On Thursday, Oct. 2, the Bristol Police Department welcomed four new recruit officers to its ranks during a ceremony at the department. The are: Jeffrey LaRoche; Carmelo Tarascio; Chris Cote, and Nicholas Travisano

With friends and family present, the four recruits took the oath of office required of all police officers.

The recruit officers began their formal training on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the State of Connecticut Police Academy. At the successful conclusion of the 24 week academy training program, they will enter the 14 week Bristol Police Department field training program.

The journey for the recruit officers began with a written exam that was taken by several hundred applicants. The 80 or so that made the cutoff from the written test then participated in an interview session with a panel of three veteran officers. Subsequent phases included medical, psychological, and polygraph exams.
