Reinhardt Otto Krampitz, 91, of Harwinton, formerly of Terryville, died on Sunday, Nov. 30.
Joan C. Fitzgerald, 76, of Bristol, died on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Born in Bristol on Feb. 23, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Hugo and Martha (Wunsch) Kirschner. She was campaign manager to Mayor Michael Werner’s re-election campaigns. She also served as a commissioner on the Bristol Board of Education. She was a legislative aide in the Connecticut General Assembly and retired from service to the State of Connecticut as an executive assistant in Gov. John Rowland’s office. While working in the governor’s office, she met the Dalai Lama, forensic expert Dr. Henry Lee, and (along with her daughter and her daughter’s friend) the University of Connecticut Huskies championship men’s and women’s basketball teams.
She is survived by her son, Jon Fitzgerald; her daughter, Leigh Fitzgerald, of Bristol; her sister Elizabeth Mahler; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Jack Fitzgerald, to whom she devoted 11 years of her life following his stroke to ensure he remained at home and lived a full life.
Funeral services were celebrated on Monday, Dec. 8 at St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1125 Stafford Avenue, Bristol.
Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain.
