Foundation providing holiday dinners to families in Plymouth, Terryville

The Zukowski Family Foundation is sponsoring its “From Our Family to Yours” holiday dinner distribution to families in the Plymouth and Terryville community. This is the second year that the foundation is providing selected families with fresh food items to prepare a holiday meal.

The foundation partnered with ShopRite of Bristol to buy and deliver the groceries for twelve families at Thanksgiving. The groceries included turkey, vegetables, dessert items and breakfast for the next day. Preparations are being made to repeat the process for Christmas for another 12 families.

Zukowski Family Foundation president, Leon Banas, said, “Our foundation’s goal is to provide holiday meals for more than 20 families that include 100 adults and children during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.”

The Zukowski Family Foundation was established by Raymond Zukowski, his wife Cheryl, and their children R.J. and Carissa in 2008. Ray lived in Terryville and graduated from Terryville High School. He always remembered the support he received from the school system and numerous people and organizations in town. As a result, he and his family decided to give back to the community by helping local families and children in Plymouth and Terryville. Ray Zukowski said, “We are a small foundation but we want to have a positive impact on families.”

The foundation also offers scholarships to Terryville High School seniors, having granted more than $17,000 in scholarships to the graduating class of 2014 alone.
