The annual Robert S. Watson Sr. Scholarship fund raiser dinner will be held on Thursday, April 23 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Nuchie’s Restaurant, Central Street, in Forestville. The menu includes pasta, meatballs, chicken, salad and rolls. Coffee and dessert will also be provided.
Robert (Bob) Watson was a Bristol resident for more than half his lifetime before passing away in 2010. For more than 26 years, he protected and served the City of Bristol as a police officer. Bob, also known as “Mr. Little League,” was a dedicated Little League volunteer for over 50 years.
The passing of a legend who contributed immensely to the lives of children from all over inspired several adults to form a scholarship in his name. Over the past four years, the scholarship committee has awarded $6,000 to Bristol students who exemplify the life of Bob.
Tickets can be bought at the Giamatti Little League Center on Mix Street and at 150 Central restaurant in Forestville. Ticket information can also be obtained by calling (860)589-2415 or (860)583-5342. Additionally, donations can be made payable to the Robert S. Watson Sr. Scholarship Fund, and mailed to Bob Kalat at 34 Holley Rd., Bristol, CT 06010.
