Camp Carlson still has room for girls this summer.
Camp Carlson, 700 Willis St., in Bristol offers activities for all girls in grades K-12. Operated by Girl Scouts of Connecticut, Camp Carlson is licensed by the State of Connecticut and accredited by the American Camping Association which shows a commitment to offering high quality programs, meeting safety standards, and following the best business practices.
Throughout the summer, girls will develop leadership qualities, learn and practice outdoor skills, receive swim lessons, and more! Younger girls begin by leading songs and playing games. Older girls in grades four and higher can try their hand at archery. Girls in grades nine through 12 can participate in a number of leadership programs.
There is a series of Mega Programs. Mega Adventures is an action-packed, two-week session that helps girls learn about the great outdoors through hiking, fire building, and more. The other Mega programs, Mega Science and Mega Sports and Games, gives girls the opportunity to experiment with the outside world through science and engineering, and get moving with classic sports and new games. These programs offer a great combination of cooperative and competitive activities that will teach girls group dynamics, game strategies, and team work.
Each member of our summer camp staff has been carefully screened and chosen for their skills and experience. All staff receives more than 30 hours of training in child development, teambuilding, safety, and risk management.
All girls in grades K-12 are welcome at Camp Carlson, which offers bus services from many local towns.
The camp will be hosting an open house at its facilities Sunday, May 3 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.
