Patton jumps into fray as Democrat in council’s 2nd district candidate

Morris Frank Patton IV announced he will run for Bristol City Council in the 2nd District, a press release from the candidate announced.

Since 1999, the news release said, Patton has worked as an underwriter and is currently employed at Guardian Life Insurance Company where he collects data on some of the largest employers in the nation to make sound financial decisions on whether or not to invest in them.

In his announcement letter, Patton said determining financial risk versus potential reward is his forte.

“My motivation for this campaign is [not only] built upon the expertise I have, but also something much bigger than the hurdles that currently face our city,” said Patton in his announcement letter.

Patton, who grew up close to Forestville, said his vision includes a “unified city government,” in which regardless of their political party, everyone agrees that job growth for residents, support for local business owners, recruitment of outside employers and marketing initiatives that allow Bristol to better capitalize on being the home city for ESPN will put the community in a better position long-term.

“I am a firm believer that all of us Democrats, Republicans, young and old, each want what is best for Bristol,” said Patton in his announcement letter.democrats
