Meet the new Miss Connecticut

A Wolcott woman will be spending the next year as Miss Connecticut.

Colleen Ward of Wolcott, competing as Miss Windham County, was crowned as the new Miss Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Cabaret Theatre on Saturday night.

The other top five contestants were: first runner-up Jonet Nichelle; second runner-up Miss Bristol Gina Salvatore of Wethersfield; third runner-up Miss Southington Val Voccio of Brooklyn, Conn.; and fourth runner-up Miss New Haven County Cara Ann Cama of Wethersfield.

Also reaching the top 8 to compete at the sold out completion on Saturday were Miss Oxford Kaitlyn Bogue of Oxford, Miss Forestville Jillian Duffy of Burlington, and Miss Litchfield County Joanna Shields of Watertown.

Ward’s next stop is the Miss America competition in Atlantic City.
