Growing Sober, LLC in partnership with Palm Beach Elite Counseling Services are offering Bristol area residents help with a clean start and changing their lives.
The South Florida based organizations are investing in individuals from Bristol who struggle with drug or alcohol addiction and want to begin taking control of their lives and live sober. Scholarships are available for 12 people over the next 12 months to receive 12 weeks of intensive outpatient therapy, individual therapy and sober housing in a new environment for a fresh start in Florida.
Selected individuals will receive support from the time that they complete a 30-day inpatient treatment program and arrive in South Florida to enter Growing Sober and Palm Beach Elite Counseling Services. Clients will receive Intensive Outpatient Therapy three days a week to assist them with maintaining sobriety. Individual therapy is available to meet personal needs and learn to utilize their unique experiences in improving one’s outlook on life. The therapists are highly trained and trauma-informed. Safe and sober housing expenses will be covered through a scholarship for two weeks. A staff liaison will help with building a resume, job search, transportation to appointments and accessing needed resources to make the successful transition to living in Florida.
The programs’ primary service population is adults, 18 to 26 years of age, though they will consider older adults; no adolescents. Program partners may assist with accessing inpatient treatment in Florida and greet the client at the airport. Random drug screens will be mandatory.
Founder of Growing Sober, Mike Carlson, is a former Bristol native and son of City Councilman Eric Carlson, who has been “growing sober” in Florida for several years. He has a desire to give back to the Bristol community by helping young people afford similar opportunities to the ones that changed his life.
