Police arrest suspect involved in firearm incident

Bristol police arrested and charged a man who pointed a handgun at a female in the early morning hours on Saturday.

According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 34-year-old Joseph Johnson pointed a handgun at a female on 69 Davis Drive. After a description of the suspect was given, police found Johnson shortly after, as well as the firearm he used, the release said. The victim involved in the incident was not hurt, according to the release.

Johnson was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal use of a firearm, first degree threatening, second degree reckless endangerment, second degree breach of peace and interfering with a police officer. Johnson was later charged with failure to comply with fingerprinting, as he refused to comply with the booking process at headquarters, the release said. Johnson is a convicted felon, according to the release.

Johnson was held on a $100,000 bond pending his presentment at Bristol Superior Court on Monday.
