More than 145 Connecticut municipalities were honored Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Wallingford’s Oakdale Theater for their participation in the nationally-recognized Clean Energy Communities program, an Energize Connecticut initiative that incentivizes cities and towns to support energy efficiency and renewable energy. The ceremony was hosted by Energize Connecticut, which is a partnership between the State, Eversource, The United Illuminating Company and Connecticut Green Bank.
Bristol was one of 53 silver award recipients. These municipalities completed the requirements of bronze level and established an energy task force, engaged in community awareness of energy programs, earned a Bright Idea Grant and completed one full year of benchmarking municipal energy usage. 10 percent of the households and businesses have participated in energy saving programs and have completed 17 percent of their renewable energy commitment.
