On Sunday, Jan. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Southington Catholic, the newest school in Southington, an open house review of the impressive educational accomplishments of the school’s K to eighth grade students in the first half of the 2015-2016 school year will be held.
Students, faculty, administrators, school board members, and parents will welcome guests to the school gymnasium. Through their collaborative efforts, guests will visit exhibit tables of individual classes where teachers and students will demonstrate and discuss specific aspects of their curriculum, activities and projects. Take the opportunity to view the innovative teaching methods and learning achievements at each grade level.
Students will escort guests through the school to their classrooms. The journey will take you through an amazing demonstration of the Biome displays created at each grade level. The hallways and classrooms of Southington Catholic will be transformed into an exploration of a frozen tundra, a lush rainforest, a vast desert habitat and a colorful ocean landscape, a truly remarkable collaboration of arts and sciences, imaginatively designed by the students.
Teachers will meet guests in their classrooms with students demonstrating, for example, the innovative SMART table and its interactive technology for phonics and math instruction in full day kindergarten, the acclaimed Super Kids reading programs for early grades; integrated technology school-wide and the challenging lessons on writing code, as offered in the middle school. Our prize-winning competitive Robotics Team will demonstrate its integration of science and technology in its hands-on projects.
