Obituaries: Francine Zurell

Francine (Toretto) Zurell, 66 years old, of Bristol, passed away suddenly on Tuesday (Feb. 2, 2016). Francine was born on July 13, 1949, in New York City, NY, to Helen (Piotrowski) and the late Anthony Toretto. She was a graduate of Bristol High School and later attended The University of Hartford where she earned received her master’s degree as a CPA. Fran worked 20 years at Pratt & Whitney and several other years at other companies as a corporate accountant until her retirement. Fran had a great love for dogs and was instrumental in creating the dog park in Bristol. Fran also donated much of her free time to the B.P.O. #1010 Elk’s lodge in Bristol running the kitchen on many events and family nights. Fran will be greatly missed by her partner of 21 years, James P. Skrzypiec, with whom she lived. She will be greatly missed by the people who knew her and for her giving nature. In addition to her mother and partner, Fran is survived by her sister: Helen Steven, brother: Nicholas Toretto; two nieces: Alison and Melissa; two nephews: Dean and Mathew; three grand-nieces and one grand-nephew. Funeral services for Fran will begin at St. Stanislaus Church, 492 West St., Bristol where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday (February 6, 2016). Burial will follow with a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
