Edmond “Ed” J. Thibeault, Sr., 85, of Forestville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Ermine “Dolly” Ann (Mondello) Thibeault with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born on October 7, 1930 in New Britain, he was the son of the late Aime and Florence (Julian) Thibeault.
Ed was raised in Plainville and attended the Plainville School System. After high school, Ed was drafted to the minor leagues for the New York Giants baseball team in 1951. Due to the draft, Ed was not able to continue a career in baseball but went into the Army and served his country proudly during the time of the Korean War. He left the service in 1954 and met the love of his life Dolly and together they raised their family in Forestville. Ed went on to work for General Electric for over 40 years until his retirement and also had participated in their bowling league and softball team. He was an avid sports fan especially the Red Sox and loved UCONN women’s and men’s basketball. He was also a parishioner at St. Matthew Church. Most importantly, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren whom he adored. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
He leaves his children Edmond J. Thibeault, Jr. of Bristol and Michele Adams of Bristol; his grandchildren Sarah (Adams) Kozma and her husband Steven of Bristol and Gregory Adams of West Hartford; a sister Lorraine Tacincelli and her husband Mario “Tat”; a brother Richard Thibeault and his wife Jane; along with several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Marie Thibeault.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol and will proceed to St. Matthew Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Committal services with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
