Legislators ask constituents to testify on bill to eliminate income tax on Social Security benefits

henri.cara.whitThe public can now weigh in on a proposal by Bristol Republican lawmakers to eliminate the personal income tax on Social Security benefits.

The proposal by Sen. Henri Martin, Rep. Whit Betts and Rep. Cara Pavalock will receive a public hearing on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Legislative Office Building.

The legislators are urging seniors and concerned taxpayers to voice their support for this tax relief and to spread the word to others about this opportunity to lower state tax burdens.

Testimony should include your name and town.

The legislators said taxpayers should feel free to copy them on the testimony at Henri.Martin@cga.ct.gov; whit.betts@housegop@cga.ct.gov; and cara.pavalock@housegop@cga.ct.gov .

Those who wish to testify in person may attend the hearing on Friday, Feb. 26 at 10:30 a.m. in Room 2E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
