The Grant Committee of the Friends of the Bristol Public Library have awarded to Bristol Library staff members three $500 grants for programs to be offered this coming summer. The recipients and programs are as follows:
Maureen Eaton: Summer Series– Dancin’ with Hoops, Kids Rock Out with Mr. Gym, and Kids Yoga. Dancin’ with Hoops provides musically fueled interactive hoop dancing. Mr. Gym has a fun, creative, and interactive program that “gets the kids moving.” Yoga for Kids helps create a peaceful and relaxed state of body and mind. All three parts are for school-aged children.
Lynn Gardner: “Beam Me UP: 50 years of Star Trek” aimed at both beginner and longtime fans, author and lecturer Clive Young follows “Star Trek’s” long and tumultuous history and its continuing impact on pop culture around the world. Popular at New York public libraries, this is the first time this program will be held in Connecticut.
Jodi Papazian: Fitness Fridays– Fitness Fridays is a five-week series of different fitness activities targeting grades 6 to 12. One week will feature a chef who will provide a hands-on culinary experience with skills and recipes to replicate at home.
The Bristol Public Library website will list specific dates and more information as the programs occur. Friends of the Library will provide light refreshments.
