Anna (Gemmitti) Purcell, 95, of Bristol, widow of James Purcell, died on Saturday (March 5, 2016) at The Pines at Bristol. Anna was born in Mechanicsville, NY on May 10, 1920 and was the youngest of seven children of the late Frank and Loretta Gemmitti. She grew up in Mechanicsville and lived in various places before coming to Bristol in 2007. She was a lover of frogs and was known for her collection of frog knick-knacks. He favorite frog companion at The Pines was Pete. She enjoyed her chocolate and playing bingo at The Pines where she was known as “Anna Banana”. Anna leaves her daughter and son-in-law: Diane and Michael McKee of Portland, MO; her daughter-in-law: Patricia Purcell of Middletown; four grandchildren: Colleen Frechette of Bristol, James Purcell of Middletown, Kenneth and Ann McKee of Missouri; five great-grandchildren: Joseph and Benjamin Frechette of Bristol, Cody and Shelby Purcell of Middletown, and Nina McKee of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Dennis Purcell, and her six siblings. Funeral services will be private and burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary Cemetery, Coventry.
