Obituaries: Edna Marie Middleton

Edna Marie Middleton, 84, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.  She was the wife of Robert K. Middleton, Sr., with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, until his passing in 2007.

Born on July 19, 1931 in Bristol, she was one of 7 children of the late Omer and Exilda (Ferron) St. Onge.

Mom was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her large family.  She also enjoyed reading, baking and playing cards.  You could always count on mom to end up on the winning team in a game of Setback, no matter how.  She was an avid fan of the UConn women’s basketball team and the Boston Red Sox.

Mom persevered with strength and dignity through many health issues after providing loving care to her husband for 10 years after a stroke blinded him.  They are happily together once again in heaven. Mom will be deeply missed and always remembered for her loving and caring ways.

She is survived by her sons Alan Middleton and his wife Ava, Robert Middleton Jr. and his wife Jeanine, and Thomas Middleton and his fiancée Christine; her daughters Carol Cascone, Laurie Recore and her husband Emerson and June Middleton and her fiancée Dave; her brother Albert St. Onge; her sisters and brothers-in-law Connie and John Power and Beverly and Frank Ronzello; her sisters-in-law Terri and Barbara; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, David Middleton, son-in-law Steven Cascone; and her brothers, Leo, Larry and Robert St. Onge.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 4PM until 7PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 9AM from the funeral home to St. Gregory Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM, followed by a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, the Channel 3 Kids Camp at www.channel3kidscamp.org, the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, 103 Vision Way, Bloomfield, CT 06002; or the Make-A-Wish Foundation at www.wish.org.
