ALBERT EDWARD NEUMANN-06/23/1925 – 03/29/2016

God reached out, Al took His hand and joined his beloved Nancy in heaven.  Together once again, they couldn’t be happier.  Born in Bristol, Al was one of six brothers and three sisters.  During the “War Years,” Albert served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.  He married Nancy – the love of his life – on August 23, 1947; they shared 63 wonderful years together.  Al’s desire was always to live in Texas.  His dream came true when they moved to Haslet, TX in August 2007.  Al was such an amazing man.  Using his mind and strong hands, there was nothing that he could not accomplish.  He actually looked at a picture and constructed a “motorized bicycle-for-two” (with bucket seats!) that he and Nancy enjoyed riding together and waving to onlookers.  Many friends and relatives can attest to the fact that there was nothing that Al could not construct or repair. He was never afraid of hard work.  Stopping work to eat or sleep was often an inconvenience to him.  However, weekends always allowed for socializing with family and friends.  In recent years, Al discovered a love for Karaoke and was quite proud of the trophy he won at the Avondale VFW in Haslet.  And, he never turned down a trip to the Casino in Oklahoma.  Christmas was the holiday that he loved the most.  He would save scraps of almost anything and make wonderful gifts for his children.  We never knew what to expect, but welcomed his hand-made Bird House, personalized Wheel Barrow, Whirly-gig, solid maple Bracelet Latch, and even an Air Compressor.  These past few years, he would let his beard grow out just for Christmas.  For Christmas 2015, he had a complete outfit and enjoyed playing Santa for children.  Al will be greatly missed by his children and their families: Nancy Drouin of Brunswick, ME; Heidi Fowler or West Bath, ME; Shirley and Vincent Bartucca of Westerly, RI; Randy Neumann of Raleigh, NC; Richard and Cheryl Neumann of North Richland Hills, TX; eight grandchildren and their families:  Carolyn and Robert Callahan of Cedar Rapids, IA; Nathan and Heidi Taylor-Fowler of West Bath, ME;  Sarah and Lonny Rowe of Woolwich, ME; Kim and Larry Fazio of Burlington, CT;  Kevin and Michelle Bartucca of Bristol, CT; Nicole and Aaron West of Springfield, OR;  Haley Neumann of Charlottesville, VA; Drew Schneider of Fort Worth, TX; and eleven great grandchildren.  Al leaves brothers Sigmund of Bristol, Theodore of Dorchester, SC and sister June Thompson of Wells, VT.  A viewing will be at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue in Bristol, CT on Thursday (April 7th) from 11:00am until 12:00 noon followed by a service at 12 Noon. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1500 FM 156 South, Haslet, TX  76052-4030.  Please visit Al’s tribute wall at www.FunkFuneralHome.comNeumann, Albert
