Obituaries: Kathryn Marie Lyons

Kathryn Marie (Landry) Lyons, 66, of Bristol died on Tuesday (May 31, 2016) at home surrounded by the love of her family.  Born on February 1, 1950 in Claremont, New Hampshire, Kathy was the daughter of the late Edward and Theodora (Landry) LaRoche.  Orphaned at age two, she was adopted into the loving family of her aunt and uncle, the late Omer and Elizabeth Landry.  She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dr. V. Everett Lyons, Jr. and a daughter, Dr. Kristina Marie Lyons of Santa Cruz, CA.  She was predeceased by a son, Christopher E. Lyons.  Kathy is also survived by her sisters: Beverly Harris of Enfield, Annette O’Karmus and her husband Joe of Mt. Holly, VT, and Dorothy Tomkison and her husband Craig also of Mt. Holly, VT; brothers: Robert Landry and his wife Marcie of Claremont, NH, Norman LaRoche of Franklin, NH,  Richard LaRoche and his wife Maureen of Chelmsford, MA, Robert LaRoche and his wife Clare of Bluffon, SC, Louis LaRoche and his wife Vicky of Ludlow, MA, and Arthur LaRoche and his partner Mary, of Fairfield.  She was predeceased by two brothers: Francis and Charles LaRoche.  She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.  A graduate of Central CT State University, Kathy taught business education in the Meriden Public Schools, and following the birth of her daughter, served as an ESL tutor and substitute teacher in the Bristol Public Schools; ending her working career by assisting elderly clients as a home health aide.  She was a communicate of St. James Episcopal Church in Farmington and an active member of the Bristol Lions Club, receiving that organization’s Ambassador of Sight Award for her years of service as well as being named Outstanding Lion for 2010.  Her family wishes to recognize the care and efforts of her many caregivers and of the staff of the Hartford Hospital Homecare Hospice Division–all who enabled Kathy to remain at home where she most wanted to be.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday (June 4, 2016) at 11 AM at St. James Episcopal Church, 3 Mountain Road, Farmington, with the Rev.
