Obituaries: John Lasnier

John Lasnier, 90, of Forestville, loving husband of Lorraine (Lawson) Lasnier for 65 years, passed away on Sunday (June 5, 2016). John was a lifelong resident of Bristol, born on Oct. 23, 1925 to the late Arthur and Amelia Lasnier. He worked for and retired from Northeast Utilities after 38 years of service. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Debra and William Elliott, of Warwick, RI; daughter-in-law: Sharon Lasnier, of Falmouth, MA; brother Joseph, of CA; sister: Lucille, of AZ; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his son, John, whom he missed and mourned until the day he died. He was also pre-deceased by his brothers: Paul, Louis, Richard; and his sister: Louise. A combat veteran of WWII he fought in France, Belgium and Germany. Sgt Lasnier is the recipient of three battle stars along with the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Fighting 69th division, who were the first ones to meet the Russian forces coming from the East. He shook hands with two Russian soldiers. He was a life member of American Legion, Post #2, Bristol, CT. A member of the Frederick, Franklin Masonic Lodge #14, of Plainville, CT. Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday (June 11, 2016) at 11AM, at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT 06010. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Funk Funeral Home prior to the service between 9 and 11AM. Burial will be private with full military honors and at the convenience of the family.
