Obituaries: Lorraine H. Rulli

Lorraine H. (Hamel) Rulli, 95, of Bristol, passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, June 18, 2016.  She was the loving wife of the late Peter J. Rulli who preceded her in death in 2001.  Born on December 3, 1920 in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Edger and Edith (Harden) Hamel.

She leaves her children Sandy and Al Palladino of Estero, Fl, Ron and Christa Rulli of Pittsford, VT, and Pat and Ken Huston of Bristol; her grandchildren and their spouses Gregg and Gloria Palladino, Maria and Brian Walsh, Carrie DiManche, Karen and John Mahoney, Marcie Palladino, Bettina and Brian Roper and Tammy Lee and her significant other Adam Cichocki; her step-grandchildren Don and Ken Huston; 14 great-grandchildren; her brothers Edger Hamel, Jr. and his wife Terry and Bob Hamel; along with several nieces and nephews.

From the people who adored her at work from the Bristol School at Hubbell to her dear family and friends, Lorraine was loved by one and all.  After her retirement, she was a loyal volunteer at Bristol Hospital.  Her laugh was infectious and her energy filled up a room.  When she would go out dancing with her husband at Lake Compounce ballroom, they were the couple that all eyes turned to with their charisma.  You could tell right away, she enjoyed a good party and displayed determination in everything she did.  Most importantly, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored.  Lorraine did everything on her own terms and will be missed for the spirited lady that she was.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregivers and to Bristol Hospice for all of their support during this time.

A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol and will proceed to St. Anthony Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Committal services will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
