Bristol police have arrested and charged a man in connection with a burglary of a Fairview Avenue home last night.

According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 41-year-old Joseph Saluski of Bristol was charged with third degree burglary,, criminal attempt of sixth degree larceny, second degree criminal mischief, interfering with an officer and possession of burglary tools.

Officers, along with a K-9 Unit, responded to the single-family home when a neighbor reported the incident, the release said. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect inside the home and tried to get him to leave on his own, but Saluski refused to cooperate, retreating further into the residence where he barricaded himself in the attic, the release said. At this point officers from Bristol’s Emergency Response Team responded, since it was unknown if Saluski had a weapon or secured one from the attic, the release said.

He was eventually captured without any injury to him or the officers, the release said.

Saluski was able to post the $30,000 bond placed on him, but he was released to a Hartford police officer, as that department held a larceny arrest warrant against him.
