Obituaries: Irene R. Squires

Irene R. (Mikulak) Squires, 84, of Jupiter, FL, formerly of Bristol, widow of Walter Squires, died on Monday (July 18, 2016) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, surrounded by her family.  Irene was born on February 18, 1932 in New Britain and was a one of 12 children of the late Stanley and Alexandra (Gondek) Mikulak.  Raised in Plainville, she was formerly a longtime Bristol resident working for General Electric for 26 years before retiring.  She and Walter moved to Jupiter in 1993 where she was a parishioner at St. Peter Church actively volunteering her time for church activities including the soup kitchen.  She enjoyed working in her garden and was a real foodie with her love of cooking and eating.  While in Bristol, she was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.  Irene is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Sandy and Raymond Arseneault, Jr., and Kristin Squires, all of Bristol; her grandson: Raymond Arseneault III; two brothers: Joe Mikulak of Bristol, and Edward Mikulak of Barefoot Bay, FL; a sister: Joan Osak of Plainville; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by brothers: Stanley, Casimer, Frank, Thaddeus, and Alexander Mikulak, and a sister: Lucy Janowski.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (July 23, 2016) at 11:30 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 510 West St., Bristol.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
