Obituaries: Laura Rappleyea

Laura (Lait) Rappleyea, 84, of Bristol, widow of George W. Rappleyea, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2016.  Laura was born in Bristol on November 26, 1931 and was a daughter of the late William G. Lait Sr. and Elsie (Loomis) Duval.  Laura was a lifelong Bristol resident and a faithful member of the Terryville Congregational Church.  Laura enjoyed baking, was an avid reader, liked to bowl and play cards.  She liked to play the organ and Parcheesi on the game board her late brother made her.  Her family will remember her as a lady of faith and always willing to help people in need. A big part of Laura’s life was her Pastor, Zachary Mabe, he was always there for her when she couldn’t make it to church and he was very supportive and comforting. Laura is survived by a son: Kenneth Kalanquin, Jr.; two daughters and a son-in-law: Diane and Jack Carpenter and Deborah King; two step-sons: David and Kim Rappleyea and Michael Rappleyea; a step-daughter: Melissa Lozewski; her sister: Barbara Couture; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a great great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother: William Lait.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, 12 PM at the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday between 10 AM and 12 PM.  Please visit Laura’s memorial website at    Rappleyea, Laura 002
