Blue finish in grand fashion, late rally pushes Bristol past the Silver Knights

Bristol Blues logoPost University’s Ben Brown held the Nashau Silver Knights scoreless in his first start with the Bristol Blues last night, but the Blues were only leading, 1-0, through seven and a half innings.
It took a five-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the game out of reach as Bristol came away with a 6-0 victor in their final regular season home game.
Austin Chauvin (St. Mary’s) went 2-for-3 in the game and drove in the early, go-ahead run for the Blues.
The big blow was delivered by Chris Villa (Seton Hall) with a two out, two run single that blew the doors open. Villa (1-for-3) powered the offense with a run scored and two RBI.
The win keeps the Blues in position for the No. 6 seed in the FCBL playoffs. If the season were to end today, the Blues would face the No.3 Nashua Silver Knights in the single elimination knockout round on Aug. 7 in Nashua, N.H.
The announced attendance at Muzzy Field for the finale was 3,061, eclipsing the 40,000 mark for total attendance for the season.
