Margaret LaVan (Snell) Minor, 100, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 31 at Cook Willow Health Center surrounded by her loving family.
Margaret was born Mar. 30, 1916 in Mishawaka, IN, the first child of Garry & Lillie (Hungerford) Snell. Prior to her retirement she worked for many years at Cook Willow Health Center and at Watertown Convalarium. She was an active part of the Holt community of North Plymouth. She was an avid gardener, and a longtime active member of the First Congregational Church of Plymouth, where she co-founded the thrift store.
She is survived by her six children: Lawrence Minor and wife, Enza, Carol Orr and husband Rodney, Lorraine Babb, Janet Rinko and husband Bill all of Plymouth, Barbara “BJ” Melancon of Torrington, Betsy Goodwin and husband Terry of Litchfield; 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Spencer, her brother, David Snell and son-in-law, Lee Babb.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Aug. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Book of Remembrance Fund of the First Congregational Church of Plymouth.
