Laura Bartok, a state representative candidate for the 77th District, won the Democratic nomination from voters last night.
According to unofficial results from the city’s Registrar of Voters office, Bartok received a total of 704 votes (including absentee ballots) from the 77th District. Her challenger, Christy Matthews, received a total of 157 votes (including absentee ballots), according to the results. The primary election saw a grand total of 861 votes, including 57 absentee ballots.
In May, Bartok received the Bristol Democratic Town Committee’s endorsement as their candidate to challenge Cara Pavalock for the 77th District House seat this November. Matthews received more than the 276 signatures needed to petition for a primary election.
